Basecrete and Crack Repair

Use Basecrete to repair Cracks in Concrete Decks and other concrete structures.

Basecrete is an excellent material for repairing cracks in concrete structures. Basecrete does not shrink upon curing so a crack that has been filled with Basecrete will stay tight. Furthermore, the superior adhesion of Basecrete will ensure that the “plug” will stay embedded in the crack even under the most extreme conditions of movement and or Freeze / Thaw cycles. Finally Basecrete’s flexibility allows it to absorb movement in the structure with cracking or delaminating.

When repairing cracks, larger than 1/16th inch it is recommended to use our Basecrete Mesh as an additional layer of support and reinforcement. The mesh is integrated into the Basecrete and gives additional flexibility and strength in an area where we can expect future movement and stress.

The pictures above show a deck in the Tampa area that had multiple fissures and cracks. There was significant intrusion of water into the area immediately below the deck. The procedure followed in this instance was to clean out cracks larger than 1/16th inch with an angle grinder, ensuring the removal of all debris. The crack is then filled with Basecrete extending 2 to 3 inches out on each side of the crack. Our Basecrete Mesh is then placed over the treated area and then covered again with Basecrete until the mesh is no longer visible. Basecrete is then applied over the entire area after the treated areas have been allowed to dry.

This Job was completed by American Made Renovations, a Tampa based certified applicator of Basecrete. The work was completed during the month of November 2016. To find an approved applicator near you, or to become an approved applicator please visit www.basecreteusa.com or contact the head office in Sarasota.
